The three major technical development prospects of the masterbatch industry

In terms of category development and design, my country’s color masterbatch has been developed and designed by domestic masterbatch manufacturers, mainly including chemical fiber masterbatch, film masterbatch, cable and wire masterbatch, polyolefin masterbatch, PVC masterbatch, Masterbatch for injection products, etc. In the future, the masterbatch will develop in the direction of intelligence, high color tone, and high-tech content.


1. Development and design of smart masterbatch


Performance-based, differentiated, and ecological chemical fiber application fields have been extended to industry chain industries such as transportation, new energy technology, medical services, infrastructure construction, security, ecological and environmental protection, and aerospace. With the in-depth adjustment of my country’s industrial structure, the acceleration of urbanization, and the continuous development of the humanized, diversified, and engineered consumer market, the pace of reform and innovation of the industrial structure of my country’s chemical fiber industry may accelerate, which will improve the overall management level of the manufacturing industry. And development trends, as well as high-quality production capacity, have shown new breakthroughs.


It is estimated that in the next five years, the total output of multifunctional chemical fiber will reach 4.6-5 million tons, and the proportion of multifunctional recycling is expected to reach 20%.

2. Development and design of masterbatch for rubber products and thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer


In my country, the development trend of high-performance rubber products and thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers is very fast, such as thermosetting plastic fluoroplastics and thermosetting plastic polyurethane materials. According to their requirements, their handicrafts must also be colored with masterbatch. For example, polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and thermosetting polyurethane (PU) materials pose new upgrade challenges for the color masterbatch manufacturing industry. This masterbatch is very different from traditional masterbatch in terms of raw material selection, production technology and application standards. How to combine the pasteurization processing characteristics of rubber products with the unique rheological characteristics of thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers will be the bottleneck problem encountered at present.


3. Development and design of a large number of special masterbatch


With the rapid development of my country's plastic products industry, the production of masterbatch will be greatly improved. Part of the masterbatch will no longer be supplied to midstream and downstream plastic product manufacturers, but will be immediately presented to upstream and downstream petrochemical companies. Color masterbatch and epoxy resin can be used to make color modified materials, such as pipe raw materials, special materials for automobiles, etc. This kind of lean production mode has transformed the masterbatch production mode, which has always been characterized by mass production and multiple varieties, into a single-variety, large-scale production mode. Changes in production methods will also challenge the technical specifications of masterbatch. How to ensure the uniformity of the color masterbatch for a long time and how to incorporate the processing technology of the screw plastic of the large and medium extruder will be the bottleneck problem to be solved urgently.
